I believe it needs to be under 30 miles.  I couldn't imagine driving one for a 88 mile country route.

thanks so much, yea, i don't think i would want to drive that tin can with wheels on 99-105 degree days, i think i would rather
stick with my pov, even with all the maintance cost, i like my ac and heater.

It will vary by district and need and if you are possibly going to get FSS.  The district I am in has them on routes up to around 36 miles.

Unless you have FSS and you are 88 miles I would say there is little chance of you being assigned one.

I think there is also a limit to the miles on gravel or non hard top. Any one know that info?

I have a 70 mile route, and management just informed me I'm getting an LLV.  I just bought a RHD Cherokee and love it.  The LLV won't last long on this route.  (500 mile/week, heavy braking, gravel/mud,...)  I don't understand the logic!

Don't ever try to understand the logic. I think they have a bunch of number crunchers setting in front of computers all day long reading all the daily logs, mail volumes for all the routes, etc.

Until our union comes up to speed, we are going to keep getting the short end of the stick.

Time to go hourly, OR make the rest of the crafts also go on evaluated type system. DOUG

I've been using an LLV on my route for almost 3 years now. (route is 19 miles/636 boxes) Lots of pluses and minuses-gotta tell you though if you aren't already aware, those light a!* vehicles will slide when you exhale too hard. Leaves, mud, oil, frost, not to mention rain and ice will propel you into or onto boxes in a flash. Don't even think about touching the brakes if you are close or next to a mounted box. Many a time that box has come right into the vehicle with me. Good times! :)
