In regards to usinga web-console in ActiveMQ, refer to the follwing posting:

http://www.nabble.com/web-console-with-non-embedded-broker-tf3170794.html#a8805900

So it seems that, to enable this, one would need to:

1) refactor the activemq web-console as described
2) start the embedded instead as a webapp in jetty.

Rob,

I checked out the source for the activemq-web-console, and didn't see
any obvious places to make  changes to decouple the code from creating
an embedded broker.

So perhaps we'll wait for the project maintainer to reply to your
thread with more specifics, and see what he has to say.
I think most of it can be done with some Spring xml config file
refactoring, but hopefully he can point us in the right direction.

On the other hand - now that you have HermesJMS working, how much of a
priority is it still to get the web console to work? i can see how
it'd be a nicer way to go than using Hermes, but can you move ahead
without it for now?
