values of system variables

hi there
i have been learning this trading platform for the last number of
months. i am trying to compile/build  photon within eclipse 3.3 as
instructed at:
http://www.marketcetera.org/confluence/display/MDN/Building+Photon
you talk about system variables (i assume) of:
 ${WSROOT}
$PHOTON_SVN_DIR
$RCP_TARGET_DIR
what are these values supposed to be? are they environment variables
defined for my windows XP? can you help out as i  cannot. i get this
error of:
