Some javascript/style in this post has been disabled (why?)

Thank you for great software. I had success transferring audio from a cassette tape recorder to my computer. I now want to transfer part of an audio track from a video tape and just cannot get it to work. I’m using Audacity 1.2.6 with windows XP. I have a cable with an RCA jack going out from the TV’s audio port (it’s a TV cassette deck combo) and I have the stereo mini plug going into the line in port on my computer. I selected the source as Line in in Audacity. I keep getting just a straight line at the 0.0 mark. I have the input volume half way up. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

If you are sure you are sending Audacity audio-only output (not combined
audio and video which it cannot understand), please see this page:
