Thanks Jody.

Is website updated with the spike/web content automagically now ?  Or
should we mention when we've done some edits and it needs rebuilding ?

It *was* autmagic - justin set up a cron job or something. Since the
server has been recreated I am not sure if the cron job still exists.

At any point we can remote login to the machine and run "make html"
ourselves.

I just reenabled the cron job, so it should update nightly now. If it
does not for some reason there is a docs.sh in my home directory. Log
into the box, su to root, su to jdeolive and run it. Don't run it as
root or your user or permissions will go hawire.

I just had a look at the quickstart online and the FirstProject source
code is an older version that the one in trunk (lacks extra comments
that were added last week). I don't quite understand how that can
happen ?

We may need to ask justin to do an "svn up" of the demo/example
directory as well...

I went looking on the server and could not find the demo example
directory in order to perform svn up;  I expect justin is doing
something fun here like downloading the deployed source code jars.

Thanks Justin:

So we are now only building from your home directory then ... I
modified the script to do an "svn update ~/gt/demo" so that our source
code examples
are kept in sync as well.

Cheers,
Jody

We should move documentation discussion to the developer (or user?) list :-)

I have had some luck using the comments and the "start-after" /
"end-before" literalinlcudes syntax to allow us to reformat the
example files and not mess up the docs.

Example from csv2shp.rst

   .. literalinclude::
../../../../../demo/example/src/main/java/org/geotools/demo/Csv2Shape.java
      :language: java
      :start-after: // start getNewShapeFile
      :end-before: // end getNewShapeFile

Please keep that in mind as you are working :-)

With respect to the pom.xml examples; I am tempted to hard code the
version numbers into demo/example/pom.xml and then use "lines"
literalincludes syntax in our documentation - somethign like:

   .. literalinclude:: ../../../../../demo/example/pom.xml
      :language: java
      :lines: 47,50-62,65

This would change our release process; in that we would have more
version numbers to update when making a release.
