Kaki and Doni will be hosting a FREE cob and earth plaster workshop at their home, 256 East 100 South, in Moab this coming Monday through Thursday, November 3 through 6.
We are attaching a flyer and write-up concerning this workshop. All are invited, so if you know someone who may be interested in this but is not on the CSS list, please forward it to them.

Dear CSS Members and Friends,

Kaki and Doni will be hosting a Cob and Earth Plaster workshop during election week - beginning Nov. 3, and continuing through Nov. 6, 2008. The world famous "Honey House Dome" is in need of a new plaster. This is a great way to either celebrate the victory of your presidential pick, or sling a little mud of frustration if your champion loses. Either way, playing in the mud is a healing and fun way to usher in the new regime.

Monday Nov. 3 (day 1)
Site prep; Material prep; Soil tests: identifying the Big Three - Clay, Silt, and Sand and the roles of each in Plaster and Cob; Straw: the weave that binds; Dirt tests you can do at home.

Tuesday Nov. 4 (day 2 - election day)
Don't Forget to Vote!!! Plaster and cob mixing techniques; Clay slip, plaster, and cob application techniques; Introduction to earth plastering tools and tricks.

Wednesday Nov. 5 (day 3)
Mixing and plastering continues with plenty of time for fun and conversation.

Thursday Nov. 6 (day 4)
Detail and finish work; Sculpting with clay, sand, straw, grass and water; Revel in the beautiful finish you have helped to create.

We will begin each day at 10 am, and Kaki will serve a light lunch to those who would like it. We will have fresh spring water available, and you are also welcome to bring your own food and drinks. This is a "kid friendly" event, too, so anyone is welcome to attend.

The cost? Nothing, nada, zip...your joyful presence and enthusiastic participation will be the contribution we will gratefully accept.
