subskinsiii, plone 3.2.1, use after installation

I have successfully installed subskinsii under Plone 3.2.1, but changing any of the CSS properties from the subskins control panel seems to have no effect. I am able to rearrange the elements, or add a logo, but the CSS styles don't seem to have any effect. I installed it as follows:

1. Installed PloneSubSkins
2. Installed subskinsiii
3. Went to control panel, and chose a color scheme

I have even tried using a preset subskins theme, but again to no effect. When using the preset theme, I first set all CSS properties to none in the control panel.

I repeated the above experiment on a fresh new plone site. I suspect I am doing something incorrectly, but don't know how to proceed or diagnose the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Some javascript/style in this post has been disabled (why?)

You need to put portal_css in debug mode to see the changes "Straight away"

go to /portal_css in the zmi and check "debug-mode"

Also, check that you theme is set to subskins in the themes control panel

Thanks. I did a new install, put it in debug mode, and now I can see the changes.
