How do you become a steward?  And do you have  to be career or can you be rca?

You do not have to be a regular.  You have to have an election in your office.  Your assistant state steward will give you the form.

If you are a Union member and have access to NRLCA web site, you will see on the left hand tool bar, under the NRLCA logo, a link called Steward Operations. Click on it, then click on Steward Reference Guide. That will take you to an A to Z index at the top of the page, click on "E" and go down to Election Of Stewards. It will list (E8.24) Click on that, it is the steward election form. Hope this helps. DOUG

The steward election form, used to be form 10, has instructions for posting, etc.  After the election, mail it to your state steward.  They will then schedule you for a steward training class.  You may have to wait for a few weeks until they have enough bodies to have the training.  This will get you certified, you must be certified to be a steward.  You will have to use a leave day to go to the class, however they paid us $150 to help cover our losses.  Best of luck!
