Houston, we have a problem. Seems we will really need to disable
anonymous comments.

On the doc side of things, we'd planning to turn off commenting and
replacing it with a link to create a new trac ticket. (helps us keep
track of things better and hopefully gets rid of comment spam)

Yeah can we do something more immediate about this? Looks like a ton
of our docs got comment spammed.
Suggestions?

They are not anonymous (we don't allow anonymous comments on plone.org),
they are by a logged in user 'dyxdmd'.

I've deleted his account.

We can probably script a search to find all comments by this user and
delete them.

Comments and trac tickets are very different things. It'd be a good idea
to have a trac link "report problem with this document", but you still
need commenting so that people can offer additional insight. Comments
are valuable to other users, not just the original author as a report of
a problem, and no-one's going to find comments hidden in trac tickets.

Ehm... how do you do actually that?  I have got a few comments on
pages that I own, but I see no buttons to remove them:

and

You need to have "Manage portal" permission.

IMHO the sixth avenue is one avenue too many, most likely to be overlooked, and least trackable (I never treat in-page comments as a discussion medium).

and no-one's going to find comments hidden in trac tickets.
Trac is, or should be, well attended.

Any ticket in Trac that is of great significance might be referenced from the relevant page.

Things in Trac that are of lesser significance can be discussed in the ticket and/or forum.

I forgot, my #1 problem with comments: AFAICT they are excluded from searches.
