scim english engine solution? And scim-table usage?

Hi
Is there any English engine available for scim? I can see in scim-python there are something similar, and what else? Is there anything I can use without scim-python?

And I am also tried writing a table for English, to see is that possible to use scim-table to somehow act as an English engine. However , I found this is also hard to implement, for If I input something that is not in the key, then the candidate word is commit. For example I got a table as:

a and 0
ap apple 0
.....

Then when I try to input "after" , when I type to af, the and is commit and thus I got "andf".

Thus, I can not input something other than the table contents, this is bad. Is there any solution to avoid this problem, (say, if you enter something other than the key, just keep it untouched) ? If this problem can be solved, then I think scim-table might be an easy approach for English engine.

Best Regards,
Raymond Liu

Hi,
maybe I don't understand fully your problem, but what about installing
the English keyboard layout and using that instead of building an input
method?
Of course this doesn't work if you're trying to build a T9-like
system. :)
Best regards,

Well, maybe I don't describe it clear enough, the requirement here is to speed up English input by candidate words or auto complication which I guess is what an engine good at :)

Do you really think that would speed it up? I think the time to look for the
candidate work slows down instead of just writing the complete word.

What instead would be nice to have is that you can access characters which are
not on the keyboard, e.g. like typing hoshi in anthy and select ★.

You could also do this for spelling foreign names correctly, e.g. typing Tokyo
and selecting Tōkyō. That would be quite an improving :)

But then I would not limit it to just English, but instead for all "simple"
inputs, maybe even replace this xkb method. So also for German, Arabic, Hindi
whatsoever.

You are quite right when we are typing with a real keyboard :) While I am trying to speed it up when in the case that people using a touch based device and input with a virtual keyboard.

Yes, I think this is what most of the scim-table based IME is handling currently. I like it!

Right, English is just an example. So no any similar thing is available now?
