Summary: Facebook Tagging: Search friends as you type doesn't work
Initial Comment:
Operating System: Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04
Web Browser: Firefox 3.0.11
When tagging photos on Facebook, you can normally click somewhere on a photo and a dropdown list pops up with a long list of friends you can choose from. Normally you can start typing and the more info you input the shorter and more specific the list of friends becomes. For example, when you type James into the text input box, Facebook only shows you those friends that are called James or have the word 'james' in their name. However, with SCIM enabled, when you type into the text input box, nothing happens and the full list of friends is displayed (even though SCIM is in English text mode). Only when the SCIM on/off toggle key is pressed (i.e. when SCIM is disabled) and the SCIM toolbar disappears does the text typed into the input box actually become 'active', upon which the friend list is immediately filtered using the search terms provided.
The above bug should be easy to reproduce and is certainly not the behaviour a user would expect. I have also noticed similar problems on other interactive websites (the problem could be to do with AJAX pages) such as on travel websites when booking flights. For example, on one page you can start typing in an airport name in the form provided and possible matches popup in a dropdown list below. When SCIM is disabled it all works fine, however, with SCIM enabled no matches are provided as you type.
The expected result would be that whilst SCIM is in plain english text mode, when filling in web site forms it should behave the same as when typing without SCIM enabled. The actual result is that some features on the sites mentioned above don't function properly when SCIM is being used.
