Hi,

I notice that when Udig read a shapefile creates two new file with .qix and fix extention in the same directory. If it can't create this file the shapefile couldn't be read, so I can't read shapefile from a read-only file-system. I tought that qix and fix are optional index file, so why is it mandatory to view shapes and tables? Is there a trick to bypass this problem, of course without copy the shapefile in a RW filesystem ?

Thank you to all
bye

Hi Luk;

I discovered this myself last week and reported it as an issue here:
- http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-2714

I have added your email to the bug report; but I have no plans to work
on it this week. You are correct that this is a mistake introduced
along some other fixes to shapefile support; and it has only just been
noticed.

Hi Luk,
currently a workaround is to let udig create the qix and fix on a
read-write filesystem and then put those on the readonly filesystem.

Should work,
Andrea
