If the earlier suggestions don't achieve what you are after have a look
at the graphical functionality of R package ggplot2 (see
http://had.co.nz/ for examples) .
Could also try sending a email to the package list at
[hidden email]. There are many with experience of plotting /
representing graphically large datasets; sure they can provide help.
