problems with r1827

I have some serious problems with my version (r1827) under ubuntu hardy
(8.04).
1. I try to save a score in another format (xml, midi) but all it will
do is write mscz format. I can import xml from Finale but I can't go the
other way. That's a very serious problem!
2. From the plugins Createscore kills mscore immediately.Test, colornote
(for what it is used??), break4 and notename work as expected. However,
I miss the "unset" command. If I have used Break4 and want to go back to
the original setting that is not possible (except with CTRL/Z).
3. When I use en edit function after inserting some notes (e.g. to set a
slur) and I want to regain entering notes, the cursor goes to the start
of the score and not to the last position. If you have a 108 bar score,
that's rather cumbersome and if you use the mouse and click a note is
inserted (as expected).
4. Am I right that when using a keyboard 1 note at the time is inserted
and the timing is not taken from the keyboard but from the setting in
the program?

I also want to know if r1827 is the latest release for Linux.
Sorry for the load of questions,
Joep

This is a known probably with Qt 4.5 on Ubuntu. Apparently Kubuntu works
without a problem.

Just an idea... try to add mxl or xml in the filename when you save.

Regarding color notes plugin, it can be used for noting boomwhackers
for example.

Hmm - that doesn't really make any sense.

The issue I have is slightly convoluted: the "Save As" dialogue box
now works, as in it returns and a file is created. However, I can
reproduce Joep's problem, wherein the file created, regardless of what
is selected in the filechooser dialogue box, is always a .mscz file.

Werner says he cannot reproduce the bug: is this because it appears
the bug is fixed, though it now remains hidden?

I shall probably publish another one today or tomorrow.

Tried that; doesn't help: the application just adds ".mscz" to the name.

Every thing I know about this issue is second hand since I use MuseScore
on Windows, but here's the thread where Victor talks about save as
working on Kubuntu and Xubuntu:

Toby, David, Lasconic,
Thanks for the reply. I had to work this afternoon so I just got to my
system.

I work with 64-bit and gnome and can't imagine why Kubuntu should work
and gnome not as I can read .xml files (created with Finale) .

As I said(wrote) I use hardy (8.04) as I see all sort of problems with
jaunty but on my laptop I have jaunty installed and will see if it works
there ( after I have mscore compiled for that system).

I have tried all the suggestions given but none works. All give files
with the extension .mscz. With cmp the files differ only one byte in
line 1 (I assume it has to do with the extension, I haven't looked at
the files with ghexedit).

My QT version is 4.5.0.0 ubuntu-hardy.

Toby, I like to try the new version but I think it will not solve this
problem but if you have a better qt I would like to get it. I am also
curious if other distributions (Debian, Fedora, SuSe, etc.) show the
same problems.

My other question with respect to the cursor always returning to measure
1 note 1 (after leaving the note insert mode) is intentional?
Thanks already for your efforts,
Joep
