| Subject: [Audacity-help] problem
| Why cant I see the frequency waves or hear my recording even
| when I do a play back I see just vertical lines go across the
| screen instead of frequency waves
If you are not getting a blue waveform like this:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/onlinehelp-1.2/track_audio.htmwhen you record then all you will see is the red recording cursor moving
across the screen with a flat line (silence) drawn behind it. If this is the
case, please see this page:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Troubleshooting#No_waveform_being_recorded
If you have any further questions after following the instructions above, please
tell us:
* what operating system you are on (e.g. Windows XP, OS X 10.4, and if you
are on OS X, whether you have an Intel Mac or Power PC)
* what version of Audacity you are using (see Help > About Audacity or
Audacity > About Audacity in the program)
* what source you are trying to record (e.g. cassette deck connected to line-in
of the computer, or microphone plugged into a mixer or external
recording interface)
