Lorenzo,

There is 45mins in the programme for the conference closing and the Sol Katz Award. I'm under the impression that Cameron as conference chair will be coordinating the closing with Jeff/Tyler handling the Sol Katz Award.

I suggest Cameron includes you in the conference close  - How much time would be suitable for you?

Simon

it's up to you, I can have a video and some slides but I don't want to make it large.
I still don't know how long is the video about Barcelona.

does anybody remember how long was the presentation of Sydney at Cape Town, or any other prentation for the next FOSS4G?

RE: [OSGeo-Conf] presenting foss4g2010 at foss4g1009

I can't remember how long my one was in 2007 but I had a short slideshow and two videos.

Tim Bowden introduced the Aussie event and showed a short video in Cape Town.

I think about 10 minutes is all that's needed?

Times are on the FOSS4G2008 wiki pages.

If I'm talking, I'll only take 5 minutes.

Lorenzo's bit wouldn't be the closing item, it's just a teaser for 2010
that would fit best somewhere in the closing plenary.

I think its perfectly appropriate for the conference chair to both open and close the conference.

It seems strange to me that this responsibility would fall to anyone else.

In my mind the conference close can be brief, but should contain the following (not in any order):

1. Thanks to all delegates, presenters,  sponsors, etc
2. Thanks to all OC
3. A forward look - i.e. Lorenzo
4. A summary of the conference (nothing deep, just perhaps a few words that reflect your experience of the conference and perhaps some comments you've heard over the previous few days from delegates)

You can watch the video of the FOSS4G2007 closing plenary
to see what was done in the almost 2 hours of time:

Hi Simon,

I've missed this whole thread, but one thing that is never though of
(till the last minute) each year, is a thank you from OSGeo to the LOC.
This year it would probably be Arnulf thanking the LOC.  This usually
is the final word on the stage - a salute to your hard work from OSGeo.

Ok, we currently have 45 minutes allocated to Conference Close and Sol
Katz Award. How does this sound? Feel free to suggest increasing or
decreasing slots by 5 to 10 minutes.

15:50 Sol Katz Award, who is doing this?

16:00 Introduction to FOSS4G 2010, Lorenzo Becchi

16:10 Thanks to the LOC, Arnulf Christl
Arnulf might want to also cover a message from OSGeo Board about
direction of OSGeo or similar here.

16:20 Conference Close, Cameron Shorter
1. Thanks to all delegates, presenters,  sponsors, etc
2. Thanks to all OC
4. A summary of the conference (nothing deep, just perhaps a few words
that reflect your experience of the conference and perhaps some comments
you've heard over the previous few days from delegates)

16:30 Finish
