hi, all. for the past week or so i've been getting three or four notifications about failed spam attempts on a ploneformgen issue i submitted to the plone.org a while back. apparently, the spams are rejected, but issue subscribers receive notices about the spam
rejection.
i see discussion of measures taken to filter spam postings to issues and the like: http://plone.org/support/forums/plone.org#nabble-tt2695756 perhaps the measures are unnecessarily notifying the issue subscribers about the rejections, constituting a nuisance in themselves? (it's quite frustrating, since there is no apparent way for me to resign from notifications from an issue, and i don't want to send plone tracker issues to my spam folder.) -- ken http://myriadicity.net ---------- Forwarded message ----------

I don't think anyone has done anything about the issue tracker spam. I only just found out about it now. Just a quick look and it doesn't look like the tracker spams are being rejected. The issue display just disappears after a spam post. I'm guessing the spam posts are breaking the new xsl stuff. You can still see the display by going to the old.plone.org alternative domain for the same url. Not sure about a quickie fix for these. Some have only four or five urls in them so the simple filter from before won't work. Not sure we want to get more aggressive about the number of urls. Legitimate issue posts might have a few urls in them. Maybe blocking anonymous might be a temporary measure. Anyone have any other thoughts? Looking around... okay I see a button called "Stop watching this issue". You might have go to the old.plone.org version if the tracker page won't show in plone.org. The button works if you're subscribed to an existing issue; didn't try it if I started the issue. Try it and see. Unfortunately, they weren't failed attempts. I've just been deleting
them pretty quickly. alas, no - i see no such option in my logged-in view of the issue on either plone.org or old.plone.org. either the initial issue poster is not allowed to unsubscribe, or maybe there's a misguided permissions thing happening, where you see the option because you generally have privileges... (i also saw none of the spam postings to the issue, but steve's followup, mentioning that he's been deleting them, explains that.) ken http://myriadicity.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Register Now & Save for Velocity, the Web Performance & Operations Conference from O'Reilly Media.
