Hi,

My husband & I are planning a trip to Vietnam in March & I was wondering if anyone has traveled out of the country and if you had to take extra precautions?

Thanks!
Idaho Dusty

Margaret,

When I've traveled out of the country (US to Mexico/Central America).  I've brought 2, 250 mL Solucortef Actovials, needles, a letter from my doctor giving me permission to carry an injection kit, instructions on how to give a shot, Zofran, extra HC, Immodium and Pepto-Bismol.  I'm a puker so I wanted to make sure I could handle as much as possible on my own if there was a chance that I might have to go to a hospital.  I had no issues during travel though.

Vietnam sounds exciting!

I'd be interested to hear what others do for travel.

Hi Margaret,

I've just gotten back from my 2nd solo trip to Europe in the last 3 months. All I do differently for travel is:

1. carry a 24hr supply of my medications on me at all times (really impt. if you go on day excursions, etc - and don't know if you'll always make it back to your room when you think you will )

2. make sure that I have a language book with me at all times, so that I know how to tell people (in the correct language) what I need if an emergency should arise. If you have a traveling companion, they could be in charge of this for you...

I hope your trip is great!

Hello,
I take the same supplies as Dusty (actually, I take all that stuff anywhere I travel whether in the U.S. or not!)  Also, it is probably a good idea to look up emergency care in the country you are going to on the internet or speak to someone who would know.  When I went to France, I asked a friend who teaches French about it, printed out the emergency locations, and had her translate into French  emergency instructions and all my contact information.  With Vietnam, I would think you might also have heat issues (so take salt tablets).  Have a great trip!  Eat Pho for me :)
