openlayers base layer change

There's a patch coming for OL which removes the annoying base layer
restrictions, is that going to potentially make fusion a bit more flexible?

I saw Tim's post, I'm not sure how that will make Fusion more flexible  
though - it only allows you to have no base layers ... what did you  
have in mind?
