Alpha builds are our very latest development code (the current
state of that code at any particular time between Beta releases).
We call them "Nightly builds" for want of a better term (the
builds for Mac are in fact automated and made every night).
You can download these here:

and may on occasion still contain one or two bugs serious enough
to block a Beta release. They should not be used as your production
version of Audacity. Their purpose is for users to test out our
latest ideas and fixes, and report problems to us. Problems should
be reported to
