Some javascript/style in this post has been disabled (why?)
We have a problem with recording. Have attached an MP3 with tthe popping sound.
When generating a tone track and playback ,i still get a pop sound at approx position 5. The hard drive light flickers when the pop is heard so possibly something to do with hard drive access?
 Computer specs
PC 800mhz 256 Ram WinXP SP2
IDE H.D
Crystal Soundfusion soundcard (full duplex)

Your first objective should be to make sure the sound card drivers are the
latest ones for your computer model made by the manufacturer of the card.
You can try updating these via Device Manager if you are on Windows:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Updating_Sound_Device_Drivers

or on the web. Check your sound card manual for support and update
information or (at your own risk) there are some links here that may help:
http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic76991.html

Consider some of the tips here including shielding the soundcard and
making sure you are not interrupt sharing:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Improving_Recording_Quality

Also consider some of these tips:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Managing_Computer_Resources_and_Drivers

so that the computer performs faster or has less work to do when playing
and recording, especially by enabling DMA on the hard drive and considering
reducing your Default Sample Format on the Quality tab of Audacity
Preferences to 16 bit. Your computer specifications are below those we
recommend for XP so if you are running many other programs and processes
while using Audacity, sound quality issues might arise for this reason. Please
see our system requirements for different versions of Windows here (scroll
down the page to see them):
