no server log to display

Dear Implementers:

When trying to view the server log in 'Administration – View Server Log' all I see is 'No logs to display'.
What do I have to do to see the log here ? We are using OpenMRS 1.5_8001 on Ubuntu 9.04, Tomcat 5.5 and Java 1.6.
