new alternative startup option restore from chex ?

Hi dear users and makers of chandler,

I experience quite often (once a week) a bug into data management system (see https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12782).
Since I backup my data at each exit and manually also sometimes because I am data-lost-paranoid, I can use the alternative start-up 6 + restore option explain here : http://chandlerproject.org/Journal/GrahamPerrin20090110

In order to help users not to have to chose option 6 which is frighting (DISCARD ALL MY DATA argg!) and to manually import their .chex file,
couldn't we set an other option doing this automatically from the exit backup file ?

It is said that the last option uses the tgz file but not chex.
Why ?
Is there a technical prb behind this ?

Paul

An update from Mac OS X 10.6 to 10.6.1 makes no change to the version
of iCal 4.0 (1362) and still, iCal can not write to Cosmo CalDAV
service.

Both bugs have been cross-posted to Apple. Details in OSAF Bugzilla.

Are you using Mac OS X 10.5.8, 10.6, or 10.6.1?

I think the issue is wording, which should be less alarming.

Import from a .chex (Chandler export) file results in replacement of, not supplement to, the repository.

It is said that the last option uses the tgz file but not chex.

No problem.

binary_backup.tgz is comprehensive, its writing is less frequent.

backup.chex is less comprehensive, its writing is more frequent.

Chandler Desktop normally writes backup.chex each time it quits.

Approximately once per week, Chandler Desktop improves its performance by taking time, at startup, to import from backup.chex

I'll have more to add there in due course.

Graham
