Trying to figure out more about Photon and the OMS.  Is there a way to have the OMS connect to multiple brokers at once and give the user in Photon the ability select which broker to send orders to?

Didn't see a drop down field or anyting like that in Photon...

I apologize if I am overlooking somthing obvious!

Can someone from m-etc give us a list of (public) brokers who m-etc-users have successfully connected to?

like speedtrader or thinkorswim, were they easy to connect and talk to?

Thanks

You are correct, the OMS (and hence Photon) only supports one broker
connection right now.
We've created RFE http://trac.marketcetera.org/trac.fcgi/ticket/369 to
track multiple broker connections.

What we've had people do for now is to have separate OMSs for each
broker you want to connect to. It's definitely sub-optimal, but it's
something we'll work on in future releases.

Hello,
Thanks for your interest.  Unfortunately the NDA's we sign with the brokerage houses are pretty restrictive, and therefore we can't really tell you much about the implementations we have done.  They require us to sign them before we are allowed to connect to their FIX interfaces.  That being said, the vast majority of broker connections simply required some changes to the data dictionary file.  For example allowing a field from FIX4.3 to be used in a brokers FIX4.2 connection.  This work is usually less than an hour.  In one or two instances we had to create a custom message type and provide it to the FIX infrastructure code, but I believe that that is the exception.

If you have a relationship with a broker, including an NDA in place, we would be happy to tell you more about our experience implementing a FIX connection.

Hmm... I really want some opinions on which brokers to go with.
If mrktc is bound by NDAs, then other users could tell me about their experiences.

For example I talked to thinkorswim, and they asked me to deposit 25K before they will let me even try their service.

Looking fwd to hear from the real users.

Thanks

So unfortunately, I think the $25000 minimum is a regulatory limitation that there may not be any way around (keep in mind, I am not a lawyer).  You can find out more about it here:

http://www.sec.gov/answers/daytrading.htm

So I did a little investigation for you and it seems that Interactive Brokers might have a FIX connection that works for you as well.

http://individuals.interactivebrokers.com/en/accounts/fees/minimumDeposits.php?ib_entity=llc

We would be happy to help you with the implementation/configuration, should you decide to connect.
