Hi Tim,

If you're interested in doing this, you have my support. I'd like to
see it added to Hibernate Spatial, but  I don't have a Microsoft
infrastructure at the moment.

Regards,

Karel Maesen

Hi Karel,
Unfortunately I don't have time to do it myself. If nobody is already doing it we (my company) might be prepared to contribute financially to someone doing the work against a fixed price and assuming it wasn't too expensive.

The free sql server express 2008 has geospatial capability so the "only" acquisition cost is having an appropriate windows platform (xp will do) and downloading it.

If you or anyone else here is interested, please contact me privately.

Tim

Hi,

we are also thinking about using MS SQL2008 Server for a project
and found that still there is no support for MS SQL2008 Server in HibernateSpatial.

Who else is intrested in this extension?
We do have an MS SQL2008 Server, but still not much experience with spatial queries.

As far as possible we would like to contribute to the dialect.

greetings

Martin

Hi Martin,

I made preparations for implementing a SQL Server provider, but
didn't start coding yet. Microsoft provided me the documentation on
how spatial objects are stored, so that part shouldn't take long. The
biggest task is making sure the provider is fully tested.

If you're interested in assisting in the development, contact me
directly so we can discuss details and timing.

Regards,

Karel Maesen
