| Subject: [Audacity-help] may this work to record?
| I have an md dat recorder from yamaha. I wanted to ask you
| if this program may:
| 1 Help me to record in my computer what I have recorded in the MD dat
| 2 Give an mp3 format to the result
| 3 Edit the MP3, reduce its lenght, etc.
| Also, I have a Mac G5 ibook, can you tell me what do I need to
| connect the mddat to my lap top? my MD Dat is the MDDAT 4 YAMAHA.
Please see this tutorial:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Transferring_tapes_and_records_to_computer_or_CDwhich will cover most of your questions, for example see the link in Section 10
"Lame Installation" in order to download and install the LAME encoder that
you'll need to export MP3s from Audacity. After recording, you will save a
Project file and do your editing on the Project directly. Then you export the
Project as an MP3 file, and retain the saved .aup Project file and _data folder
until you are happy with the exported MP3 file(s). If you want to export
another MP3 from the Project (for example because the one your exported
was not of high enough quality because you chose too low a bitrate), then
reopen the .aup Project file with File > Open to do this.
If your Mac does not have a line-in, you will find in the "Setting up Audacity"
section of the above tutorial a help panel entitled "HELP IF YOU DON'T HAVE
A LINE-IN PORT".
