Hello all, first time here. I have been an RCA for 3 1/2 years. My post office started a matrix in May. I transferred to this office 2 1/2 years ago from an office which used a matrix. The matrix here is not used correctly and let me explain. The pm come to me first to fill out the matrix. I told here that she needed to go the senior rca first. She told me that i was wrong so i filled it out anyway. Then she told me i filled it out incorrectly. I put my name down for 2 different routes on the first option which is the correct way to fill out the matrix. We have 7 routes here. I again told her that i did it right but i should not be filling this out first. She again told me i was wrong, so i filled it out anyway. I put my name once on the first option line and put my name on the 2nd line option which again is incorrect. This is now 2 mistakes made. She continued to have others fill out the matrix before allowing the senior rca's put there name on it. Again, we had to put are name on the first line and the 2nd line, please understand this. Now, the senior rca's could look at what the rest had filled out and determine what they wanted. After the matrix was filled out, i noticed that one of the routes had not been taken on first option. I ask to change to fill the vacancy and was denied. I was told, the only way i could do this is if i had made a transfer to another route. I dont think from what i read this is true and if so a 3rd mistake has been made. I had ask again after reading a little about the matrix just last week and was denied again. Now the regular on that route is very sick and may need surgery. If i had been given that option i would be working now on that route. The regular rca only works on saturdays for that route because of full time job monday thru friday. Is there anything i can do? The matrix is tainted here and i am loosing work. please help.

Just Greive it...dont fight...just call the stew....matrix's are a pain in the ass....

Management are total idiots when trying to understand a simplistic thing such as the RCA Matrix. It really amazes me that they all just don't get it or they just don't WANT to get and do it their power-n-control way.

Simple. Your Matrix is a mess and not done correctly by any means. Seniority picks (3) choices FIRST (a Primary and either (2) secondary slots OR (1) secondary and (1) tertiary, the 3rd, slot). So senior sub picks first and on the line down to the lowest who gets the crumbs. Since your Matrix is a mess and incorrectly done, you have NO CHOICE but to grieve this. Management will not change it, nor will they listen. A call to your Steward will right it and most likely without even you having to grieve it. He/She will call your PM or Super and tell them to do the Matrix correctly or SOMEONE in that office will file. If you can't get your Stew to do it, call your Assistant State Steward...contact number should be in the UNconcerned carrier rag.

Common problem. Management just are complete idiots. Only thing though....I don't know how your seniority looks, but once you get to re-do the Matrix, don't count on getting that route that will be vacant for awhile...the other buzzards are circling, too and need work.

Call your Stew. He/She will call management and threaten them because you are correct in that they did NOT do the Matrix correctly. You all will pick again and life in the PO WILL STILL SUCK....LOL.......welll......it will still suck.

Well I filed a grievence in our office in NC.  oUR ASST, STATE STEWARD HANDLED THE GRIEVENCE.He just handed it to management and I lost. As an RCA I will be leaving the Union. I was treated unfair by the union. The President told me he really don't get involved unless it affects the regulars.I have had it I just treat the P O like they treat me if i'm home I answer if not 2 bad.If im at i work I carry mail. Don't talk or ask questions just do what they tell me its my job. I had everything in writing and the steward still told me I was wrong because be doesn't know how it works. Anyway it is what it is. I'm leaving along with 12 others in my area bye union. Thanks for taking my money.

I'm sorry...but you should be going above the Asst. State Stew's head now.  The Matrix was done wrong...simple as that.  There are rules in place regarding this.  If the Asst. State Stew can't see this, then maybe they shouldn't have been put into that position.

If and when you talk to your state steward, you may want to let them know that you were told that "if it doesn't effect the regulars...".  This is a bunch of CRAP...I'm sure that the state stew would like to know this.  YOU PAY DUES, and have the RIGHT to FAIR representation!!

I now have grieved with postmaster. PM has stated that she will get back with me tormorrow. Can anyone tell me what will happen next or what i should do?
