I have been hearing that regular routes that are added to (as in disolving the office aux rt and adding to and rearranging the regular rural routes) will have a mandatory mail count in Sept 09.  Is this correct?

Sarah, we've been hearing that we may ALL get a Sep. count under the special contract provision 9.2.C.3.4. The USPS has to notify the union 30 days in advance, so we'll know for sure by Aug. 17 or 18.

What you appear to be asking about is a "special count". That also occurs during the final 12 working days of Sep., but ONLY under certain circumstances. Check the contract, 9.2.C.11

The only provision I can see that MIGHT apply here would be (3):

Whenever a 120 minute (2 hours) or more
salary adjustment is made on a route,
whether due to a substantial service
change or a route adjustment, and the density
of the route after the change has been
increased to twelve (12) boxes per mile or
more or has been decreased to less than
twelve (12) boxes per mile.

That would be if your route went from a non-L to an L or vice-versa as a result of the additions.

Button, button, who's got a button??

Just remind them that they can return to a K at any time they wish.

In my office every route went to j route's because they said they did to get back some of the money the po had taken from them. But they all could have remain k.Now every week someone is complaining about having to work the extra day. They complain that they do not make any more money (duh). So if they count maybe they learn to just be happy that they have a job

Sounds like you're the one with the sour grapes.  Carriers should be complaining.
