I work in a small office with only 5 routes and i have 2 questions. First the carrier i worked for went out on leave in the middle of march, i do not remember the excact day. I have been running the route for 5 days ever since. The carrier retired the last day of july and the route was just posted this past monday. Should i have been earning leave time????? The postmaster says no. The second question is that in the next 6 months the rest of the carriers will be leaving and the postmaster wants me to learn more routes and he says he is not going to pay me to learn them. Is this right????
middle of nowhere

yes, you should get both annual leave, and sick leave for the route when you work over 90 days continuiously . the leave is retroactive back to the first day that you worked. call your steward,as this is something your postmaster obviously will cheat you out of if he can. art.10.2.c.5.a.  i'm not sure on the training for more routes, some places will give you 3 days training on any new route that they want you to learn, other will show you where the case is, and give you a map when they kick you out the door. i'm sure that something is written on what is proper.

Thanks for the input!  The postmaster is wanting me on more routes and not pay me for it. The way i look at it if he wants me to learn them he should pay me to do so!  When i go full time around july of next year he says he is not going to hire anymore subs. Just one sub for 5 routes. I do not think this is pratical and can he do this?
