Imagine the SLD TextSymbolizer describes a font that doesn't exist on the computer. At the moment, GeoTools will look for that font every time it's used.. throwing a lot of exceptions while rendering and using the default font at the end. Throwing and catching these exceptions makes rendering pretty slow.
My proposal is:
Extend the FontCache to also cache "FontNotFound" states to avoid multiple, repeating FontNotFound exceptions while rendering.
