well i discovered this afternoon that daisy is terrified of thunder and lightening. she turned from a happy (if ever so slightly mad) dog to a quivering whimp when the weather changed. it was quite sad to see. she changed about half an hour before the thunder and then started crying. then she started quaking, weed on the carpet, cried, hid for hours in my pitch black utility room and i couldnt get her out. it has taken her hours after it fininshed to go outside for a wee! lovely x

Poor Daisy. That is an extreme reaction but a lot of dogs don't like thunder and lightening. We only had a couple of little bits of thunder yesterday so ours didn't really bother but a couple of weeks ago Jon had a terrible time when there was a storm. They both shook and were really unhappy so he had to sit and cuddle them until it'd all gone away.

jenny shook and paced the floor during the storm but at least she was happy to go oout as soon as it had finished, Molly on the other hand slept through the hole thing and to make the storm sound ven worse we were in the caravan

We are lucky really as Yorkshire is further South so we have not had any storms, just sun and more sun.
The only thing that I have noticed the dogs scarred of is the low flying aircraft from the RAF. The planes fly so low that you can see the  pilot.

I am very, very lucky insofar as Sophie has never reacted to thunder, etc. Maybe this is helped by her always having been kept outdoors? However, my mother's dog used to go mad at fireworks and thunder. She has mellowed with age though, ie gone deaf. (I'm still talking about the dog by the way, I wouldn't dare comment on my mother... )

When a low flying plane goes over, if I am out by myself with some of the dogs, we all huddle together and dogs are always on a very short lead.  Its a bit like a group hug

yep i turn off my pc when its lightening, think that goes back to my grandma hiding the silver when i was little i think! daisy appears to be scared by all wet weather. she likes to be in the dark before, during and after and she is impossible to move. we just leave her to it and try to act like nothing is wrong. god help me on bonfire night. my beautiful baby (actually a whippet/greyhound x  who was pts couple of years ago aged 9)hated rain etc but fireworks were enough to make her hold her bladder between approx 4.30 pm until 7 the next day, no idea how she did it without having an accident but couldnt get her out to wee with the noise. gunna buy some more rescue remedy to prepare daisy.
