Hi,

As you know, I am not a very good nor extensive writer, but I decided to create a blog to post weekly news about the project. Maybe this will attract those that
hate emails and reading through email lists, anyway, my idea is to have something like Corbet et. al. do on LWN.net: a pretty much summarized, quick to read,
easy to understand, change log of what is happening out there.

Blog lies here:

http://gta02-core-news.blogspot.com/

I'll start posting news this Friday. If anyone has ideas, suggestions, or wish to contribute in any way, you are (as always) very very welcomed.

Best,
Álvaro

Nice ! Compilations are great for following things. I wish my
mailbox would auto-compile itself from time to time ;-)

So this means we have to do something newsworthy every day now ? ;-)

That is wonderful. Maybe now i will be able to add some news to CU
regarding gta02-core. Speaking honestly there is so much technical data
here, that i didn't know what is important and what is not, thus i
wasn't able to distil some user friendly information. Hope now it will
be easier ;)

First post is out [1], please give me some feedback it if looks like useful for you of if you believe I should structure it differently, or be more verbose
about the items.

It's very useful (Added to my RSS feeds). If you summarize the jokes I
can even stop reading the list! :-)

Great - Thanks for putting that together Alvaro.  I think this is a
great initiative for our little project!

Thanks, that's nice summery!  I think this blog will become a good place
for anyone who wants to get information about what's going on in
gta02-core without digging through tons of emails.

I like it, thanks a lot !

By the way, Sean informed me that we probably don't have to worry
about the parts. He doesn't have exact figures yet, though.

Ah, you also mentioned the shields: no change there for gta02-core.
Let's use what we have. If we get bored, we can try to make our own
for WLAN.

Looks very promising! I hope you will have enough time to keep this
going on :)

There's been a bit more on IRC, mainly about footprints. I summarized
the key points in "Solder mask and other special pads".

I'll visit USP for a couple of days next week, to meet with Prof.
Marcelo Zuffo and Jon "Maddog" Hall. I hope we can tie up some loose
ends on that occasion.

In other news, I'm having a bit of offline activity these days to keep
me entertained, buying an apartment and moving soon (along with my
office and lab). Alas, this is about as far from one-click shopping
and drag-and-drop as things can go :-(

I'll address the finances in a separate mail.

I'm avoiding technical stuff on that blog. Most people do not understand it, and addressing those will probably cause more confusion than elucidation ;P

Now, that's some interesting piece of news. I'll try to meet you guys on IRC next week to discuss that.

It's always hard. I hope thinks will go smooth.

Great ! I expect that my presence on IRC will be spotty most of next
week, so if I don't show up, just use mail.

I'll be traveling from very early Tuesday morning to Thursday evening,
with meetings at USP Tuesday and Wednesday. I may have a few hours on
Thursday to sneak in a visit to Telit while I'm in Sao Paulo, but
that's not decided yet.

I'll be back home in the evening of Thursday. I expect Monday and
Friday to be pretty much filled with travel preparations and
apartment-related things.

IRC seems to be one of the things the firewall at USP doesn't like :-(

However, I got to see a rather nice SMT line today, complete with a lot
of rework and testing equipment. It looked a little bored at the time,
so I wish I would have had some PCBs and components to feed it ;-)
