grass-addons access for Martin Pavlovsky (Summer of Code student)

Hello PSC,
I'd like to propose that Martin Pavlovsky (Google summer of code student)
be granted write access to the grass-addons SVN repository. This will
enable him to share the code he is developing for the re-implemented
v.voronoi and v.delaunay with the other SoC mentors and anyone else
interested. (At the conclusion of SoC when the modules are satisfactorily
finished they will be transferred into the main SVN).

I'm his designated mentor for Summer of Code and will do my best to
resolve any issues that arise.

@Martin, can you send a mail back to this PSC list letting us know that
you have read and understood RFC2: Legal Aspects of Code Contributions
http://download.osgeo.org/grass/grass6_progman/rfc/rfc2_psc.html and that
the code you submit will be in compliance with this; also that you have
read the Submitting Guidelines (file SUBMITTING in the root directory of
the source code) and that you will try to follow it when committing code
that will be used in GRASS.

Thanks,

Paul
(+1 from me on this obviously!)

AFAIU for the -addons repo all that is needed is for the contributer to post here saying that they have read, understand, and agree to our RFC2 and supply an OSGeo ID name. Then find a mentor/developer who supports them to enable access.

i.e. a vote of the PSC is only needed for write access to the main grass repo, not the addons repo.

That makes sense to me too - I thought that might be the case but included
the +1 just in case :) Also am still a bit unclear on the distinction
between granting access to grass, grass-addons and web separately. But
I'll work that one out.

Anyway, since no vote is required and we have consensus, I'll go ahead and
organise the access for Martin in the next couple of days.

Please take a look here:
http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/wiki/HowToContribute#ProceduretorequestGRASS-SVNwriteaccess

The current policy is:
* grass: needs PSC approval since it is the core system
* grass-addons: no PSC approval needed since "only" addons
* web: it was the hope to get more people involved and it's not source code

Note that due to the current OSGeo LDAP configuration "grass" members need
to be replicated in the "grass-addons" registration *if* s/he wants to add new
members. Don't like that too much but nothing to do right now (see related
OSGeo-SAC ticket). Some folks we have duplicated in "grass-addons"
(Martin, Wolf, Hamish me, ...), they could add a new member.

Hope that clarifies it a bit.

Markus

To give you the links (I didn't publish them earlier to avoid attacks,
but since Frank W published them in trac, I can do so also here):

https://www.osgeo.org/cgi-bin/auth/ldap_group.py?group=grass
https://www.osgeo.org/cgi-bin/auth/ldap_group.py?group=grass_addons

The SAC ticket is
http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/254

Unfortunately we would need to add all GRASS developers again to
group=grass_addons :( Or you just bother those indicated above to
insert people in grass_addons to avoid too much overhead.

Martin Pavlovsky (midinastasurazz) I have added now. Please notify
him if he isn't reading this list.

I don't mind that job, it is pretty quick and has a good result:effort ratio.
I can't offer any guarantee of responsiveness for the next couple of months though, probably the opposite.

I don't mind giving access to grass_addons to people as soon as I see
them accepting RFC 2, as long as you all are ok with me doing it, I'll
keep my eyes open for requests.

Hmm I wonder where I missed his email indicating that he agrees to RFC
2, I sort of was waiting to hear from him.

Sure - but I guess I was somewhat unclear. Certainly the "workload" to add
a person after RFC2 acceptance is very low.
I mean: the overhead here is that we replicate access and have to keep
to LDAP directories in sync.
However, during the last 8 years of CVS/SVN I/we never removed a granted
access - a good sign!

I think I have seen that...
