Hi, I have a great uncle and aunt from the Netherlands around Friesland and i am looking for a possible translation of their given names.

My uncle is Doeke

MY aunt is Baukje

Can anyone tell me what would be an English equivalent if there is any? they were from Het Bildt.

Thanks for any help.

As far as I can tell, are these traditional Frisian names, without a specific meaning.

Sorry, but these Frisian names are unique. Names like Jan, Klaas or Piet could be translated respectively with John, Nicholas or Nick (Klaas = Nikolaas), and Pete.

Did you try googling the names? meaning of Baukje for instance... or otherwise "betekenis van Baukje"
or 'herkomst van Baukje'.

Good luck!
