Quite a few of our users are complaining about this, below is another one
that may help you identify the problem.
Best wishes
David
"E-Mail is threaded by checking the References: header in the message,
this has the Message-ID: of messages which 'higher up' in the thread
and the mail client program uses this to show the thread. Some mail
clients can also be told to thread by matching the Subject: with
previous messages but this is obviously less reliable (and won't get
the order or branching correct).
Newsreaders use the same information in the headers, i.e. the
References: header, to thread messages.
Looking at the "steering wheels" thread in the Main list it's obvious
that something (presumably Nabble) is screwing things up. Looking at
the first message in the thread I see:-
Message-ID: <
[hidden email]>
[no references as it's the first in the thread]
Message-ID: <
[hidden email]>
References:
<
[hidden email]><
[hidden email]
e.com> <
[hidden email]>
... and all subsequent messages have a mailman Message-ID: and
references to Nabble. So, essentially, as far as I can see Nabble
hijacks the references and puts its own references there which breaks
eveything for both E-Mail and newsgroup subscribers.
Given that *most* people still use the lists by E-Mail this seems
rather a bad thing! ... and complaining that E-Mail users are
hi-jacking threads etc. is a bit much too since the threading is
completely broken by Nabble anyway."
