Has anyone heard any new gossip on any possible early outs for rural carriers? How about the possibility of 5 day delivery?

Keep your ears open maybe you will hear something serious........I did not post this question to be made fun of...each one of us has a different agenda......for me I would welcome a retirement offer....and I feel that the five day thing is coming...what kind of changes it will bring to our craft I can only imagine....none of it good........Thanks for the response.......

The Postal Service has stated even if the volume is down delivery points for the rural craft are still increasing and rural carriers will not be excessed. I wrote to my Senators and the response both of them gave me is six day delivery is federal law and they will fight to keep it that way.

They may not need to excess rural carriers but they could save a substantial amount of money if they would offer a decent buyout to those of us 55 and older that don't have quite enough years to retire with full retirement.  I am a step 12 so they are paying me top dollar and getting me out would start someone else at the bottom.  Oh well!!!  Guess I am here for a while!

how much money would be saved if the post office is paying a new carrier on step A  and also paying you a retirement check?  how does this total differ from what you are paid now?

Not sure of the exact figures but am pretty sure that the small amount I would receive in retirement plus a step A salary would not equal what I am being paid now.
