hey people...
the next one is done i think, this may seem simple but it's the hardest song i think i ever tried to sing... it's almost like a chant, there's no room to breathe. ;) VERY psychedelic, it sounds kinda like something outta the 70's. first up, i wanna thank my one and only protege, mr. Todd "T-Willie"
Meikle, he heard the original riff entitled "beatlesy" at the time and
suddenly started going..."dude...i hear this chanting thing going like
""white is black is black is white is" "...
which was exactly the CADENCE i'd heard, but not the words.
so me and todd and Andre Corsini jammed it a while until it sorta reached
cohesion in my brain.
Todd was supposed to write the lyrics, but i as usual got impatient and did
it for him.
;)
BUT>... because he helped clarify the idea for what ultimately came to
fruition, i feel he deserves a partial writer's credit.
or producer credit, or some kinda shit like that...whatever he wants, he's my little brother so it's all good... ;)
the guitar on this is all my late 80's Gibson SG 90 (heavily modified
as usual), the bass a cheap ibanez 5 string.
the guitar and bass tracks were all recorded thru my behringer V-ampire head, all on the same setting. (i remember why they put knobs on guitars for.)

the two main pulses in this are the bass and voice, kinda freeing up the
drums to play some of the most off the wall (for me) stuff i ever tried to do.
in other words, the drums aren't carrying the rhythm, the voices and bass
are.
weird? yes, but it gets kinda cool... i tracked with audacity 1.2.4 (my fav build still) with a little
assist from the free sound editor software available on the "shit" page of
jimipocius.com....
it's kinda like a freeware version of steinberg's wavelab...and tho
limited, can be really good for mastering stuff, as you can twiddle virtual
knobs on stero wav files in real time...
Sweetboy's SH-1 VST's, Kjarhaus classic series , Blue Noise's Mountain Echo
and built in audacity effects did most of the effecting digitally.
the only stompboxes used were cheap little danelectro ones.
anyways, this is a song built on contradiction and opposition.
it was almost harder to write than to sing...(and singing it was damn near impossible)....trying to write a song around conflicting one-syllable words and have it tell a story and rhyme is....well, you try it. ;)
anyways, it's one of the stranger things i've done, i hope ya like
it.
the louder you play this one, the better it sounds (for a change). as always, it's free to listen to or download...critique is always welcomed, good or bad... and if ya REALLY like it, download a copy and tell a couple friends. peace!
