Can someone tell me the procedure or compensation for deviations made by carriers who are required to take any mail picked up misdelivered or found miscased to the correct box.  Sometimes I have to deviate over 10 miles to do this. thanks

Report mileage to your PM daily, also enter in the remarks section of your 4240, request payment.  You are to receive the same pay rate as for 2nd trips or deviations for express.  That would be 2 minutes pay per mile and EMA as well.  Not sure how you will be paid as we have not been required to perform this service, probably on an 8127.  Our district tried this tactic a few months ago but quickly stopped because of the high cost.  I have begged our PM to allow us to retrace, my route is 60 miles, how about a 35 mile trip.  I could earn a $100 extra per week, easily.  If the PM does not cheerfully and promptly provide payment for these deviations, file a grievance, you will win.  Tally Ho!
