Starting Monday the post office is suppose to pull all the coa cards out of the lobby. There is suppose to be a new display urging customers to go to USPS.com to give address changes.  The clerks are not suppose to give out the coa cards unless the customer insists.  Just a new way to take the Service out of USPS.

and the post office is  charging them a dollar for this online service, they claim its to make sure its the person that is requesting the change , this is the first i heard of this , and it sounds to me like your post office or area is just looking  for a way to increase revenue , while i agree forwarding is costing the  post office a mint , they should then find another way to force customers to pay for it , so it s fair accross the board, not just  a couple of hitlers deciding there is no longer a paper service for this, am i correct in thinking one of the post office complaints is to many people are changing to online rather then paper services. and now they are forcing their customers into it , instead of trying to persuade them to keep using our services. who wants to use a companies service that the company doesnt want to  use itself .

I used their so-called on line service.   Paid the $1.   Got the confirmation and then never got my mail.  The  PO shipped all my mail to my brother's house.   I called and complained and got a bullshit story.   This went on for 3 months.   Didnt' matter if I called the PO, the 1-800 number or whomever.  My mail did not come to me.  I finally had to fill out a COA card and send that in.  Had the PM where I work CONFIRM that it went in.  I've had other customers that had the same problem with the on-line service.    When they called me, I just handed the phone to the supervisor and told him it's HIS problem. HE gets paid the big bucks, so handle it.   The whole problem with USPS is the are in such a hurry they don't take the time to see if these new ideas actually work before implementing them.    Good luck to anyone that has to move that needs their mail forwarded with this system

If the PO really wants to save money on this why not reduce the time on the COA's-- isn't 6 months long enough for a customer to notify everyone he needs to of his new address?? That is a 6 months savings. Why do we have to deal with COA's (in one way or the other) for 18 months?

I've had a related problem with "Hold Mail" requests on line. I just don't get them. I have often stuffed peoples mail in thier box for a week, than later had them complain to me that they submitted a Hold request on line.
I tell all my customers to use the yellow form and leave it in the box, or just leave me a hand written note.
