Hi peeps

as some of you know, Alexis and I made a simple game for the CART 262
final assignment. (check it?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL5lIz0R4yY )It was a fun project and we
want to take it to the next logical step: not having a box on stilts as
the main character. I know, colossal step, but bear with us for a second

Alexis and I are looking to make a new game starting on the 2nd or 3rd
week of May. This project would last all summer and would effectively
end the first day of class in September. Basically we're looking for as
many people as we can get. The only requirements we have is that you be
a cart student at any capacity (full-time, part-time, major, minor,
spec, took a class - it all works) and that you can commit 2 weekends a
month to a physical meeting/get together/troubleshooting.

As for the kind of people we need, we are going on a "I want to" basis.
So if you want to be a part of this, then you are - absolutely no
experience required. We won't say we have "positions" to fill per se
because we don't want to get in a "I want to be a lead this" or "an
architect that" title struggle. We seriously don't care - it's not like
we're making money from this. But we do need teams of people who are
focused on certain jobs. Again, remember, don't feel pressured about
experience - if you want to do any of the following things, just be
willing to learn and that's good enough for us. so we know we need:

-Game Programmers (c++, not that you need to know this to be a part of
this team)
-Character and Level designers/Concept artists (this is mainly 2D
concept work)
-3D modeling (in game, this is mainly low polygon-count stuff)
-3D modeling (Cinematic animation, low poly-what? what's that?)
-3D Animators (make it jiggle nice)
-Sound Design (make it go pewpew)
-Texturing (this would probably be for in game as well for cinematics)
-Lighting (this is for cinematics and you would have to work with the
programmers to get the correct lighting parameters if not program the
lighting yourself).

if you want to be part of a team that is not listed, tell us what it is
and if it makes sense, we'll add it to the team list!

So if you're interested or if you have any questions, send them to Ramy
here:
[hidden email]
and we will both look at them. If enough ppl are interested we will
start organizing to have a first physical meeting in mid may. If you
aren't around for the first meeting or any time during the summer but
are still interested, tell us anyway, that isn't the main requirement.

The main requirement is a willingness to learn and the motivation to do
some quality work.

all right, feel free to pass this message along to other cart students!

Alexis M. and Ramy D.

Hey Ramy,

It sounds like lots of fun, I'd love to be a part of it.
I can mainly do low and high-poly modeling for in-game and cinematics
[at the same time since I'd make a high res version for generating
normal maps for the low-poly anyway], Texturing, and concept art [to
some extent]. I also have a bit of experience integrating/exporting to
Ogre3D

PS: to all who are participating, you should consider doing the work
as an independent study over the summer to gain credit for the work
you'll be doing.
