Hello lame-dev,
I'm a member of Kompoz.com , which is a collaborative
(creative commons) site
for musicians.
we use a sync tone at the start of tracks so that tracks can be sent back and forth
and interested people can align their tracks with the
older tracks and then upload them. The sync tone is
supplied as a WAV file and takes the format of a 6
second insertion - that is; 1 second of silence, 0.5 seconds
pips, 0.5 silence 3 seconds continuos tone and then 1
second silence - much like the broadcast tones.
the project build tracks use mp3's for economy of space and to
keep upload times down.
I use LAME 3.97 in my DAW and when I render multiple
tracks to one, or even just do a straight singular
conversion from WAV to mp3 (in foobar), a small part is added to
the beginning of the original WAV waveform of the sync
tone - which obviously puts a real bind
on getting everything in sync.
are you aware of this, and is there anything in the
works to rectify this?
thanks for reading.
cordially,
Ben
