This will be duplicated for some of you and I apologize. Sara Melnicoff asked me to send this out to all of you. It is a:
petition aimed at helping get a nationwide bottle bill passed. Congressman Edward Markey of Massachusetts has put this bill forward. It would put a refundable deposit on every container sold in the USA. The 11 states with bottle bills enjoy a very high container recycling rate - Michigan's is 95%. The current estimate is that we waste about 138 billion containers a year in the US.
