Lenny: If I read this correctly you have a CD containing MP3 files of cassette recordings of LPs. Right? All that matters is that you have a CD containing MP3 files. If you put that CD into the drive in your computer it should show up like an external disk. Audacity can then import the MP3 files. And you can then edit to your heart's content. You can break it into tracks and export individual tracks as WAV files to burn to an audio CD. -- Bill On 25-Sep-09, at 2:42 PM, leonard schwartz wrote:

Lenny:- put the CD into the drive in your computer; it should show up like an external drive containing a bunch of MP3 files - in Audacity click on Edit > Preferences, click on the Quality tab and set the Default rate to 44100 and the default format to 16-bit - Click on File > Import > Audio and navigate to the CDROM drive - click on a file to import it into Audacity - trim the file as needed - Click on File > Export; in the Export dialog choose a place to save the file and in the Format popup at the bottom of the dialog choose "WAV" This assumes that each MP3 is one 78 side. If there are several sides contained in each MP3 you'll need to break them up, either onto separate tracks or separate clips or mark them with labels. But this should get you going. This page on the Audacity wiki might be of help: -- Bill On 25-Sep-09, at 3:55 PM, leonard schwartz wrote:

I use a USB turntable, play them at 45 into Audacity and then select all and chane speed from 45 to 78. From there is just like anyother Audacity file. You must have some hook up to record the records, can use a USB Turntable or a regular turn table with pre amp and RCA jack to USB adapter. Lee
