My apologies for the absence. My time has been in short supply lately due to a busy work schedule, a very involved home improvement project and a new romantic interest in my life , as a result, I decided to give the forum a bit of a break. I have some catching up to do on ATWT and will be working to implement the changes I was working on for the forum in the coming days and trying to make this more of a community driven forum. I want to thank everyone who has kept the discussion going for the past couple of weeks.

Welcome back, a_p!!  I tried to fill in for you with the spoilers, etc., so I really do appreciate the work you do in this area.  I did learn some things!!  LOL  I hope I didn't make too many mistakes in the learning process.

So, you have a new romantic interest, eh??  I think that is great ... more power to you and I hope things work out well for you.  Good luck with the home improvement project ... you must be an engineer!!  LOL

Take care and enjoy, James!!

Thanks Jay... You did an outstanding job helping to keep everyone updated with the spoilers and other posts.  and thanks for the well wishes in the romance department. I need as much as I can get. LOL

The project was a diy kitchen renovation that my friend and I have been working on and it's pretty much finished, except for a few finishing touches. I'm very happy to finally have a working kitchen again!

Thanks, James!  It is always a plus to have romance in your life once again, to balance out with your work life.

I bet that new kitchen looks fabulous.  It is kind of hard to try to get by with a non-working kitchen, so best of luck in enjoying your new working kitchen!!

Well, James, you have been MIA since March 2, 2009.   What do you have to say for yourself??   I hope you are all right ... but now I am beginning to wonder if something has happened to you.  If anyone knows how to contact James other than through e-mail (I have tried that several times already to no avail), please let me know.   Thank you ... LuvCoop1 ...

James (a_priori) has now been MIA for 7 weeks as of Monday, April 20.     Just to let you know, Will of Nabble has no other way of contacting James any more than we do ... by e-mail.  There are decisions that need to be made for the future of this board.   I would appreciate anyone's comments and suggestions ...

Do we want to keep this board going?

Tasks as to who will do what?  Any volunteers?   It is too much work for one person to do and as you have probably noticed lately, I have been fading ...

I have read that Nabble is considering adding moderator capabilities, but it is not here yet.  I have been volunteering to do it in James' absence.

Right now, there are no co-owners either.  The Guiding Light Nabble MB has several co-owners and they have vowed to keep their board running, regardless of what happens to Guiding Light.

Any other thoughts or ideas?

Thanks,

Jay

Hello Jay,
Thanks for keeping us informed. I'm not at all computer savvy, so I haven't a clue about what's involved in running a message board.  What's needed in terms of volunteer work to keep things alive? Perhaps we can split up responsibilities if there are enough folks interested?  ~~cee

Jay, I don't think I can give anything except moral support.  I really want the site to keep functioning, but I'm not that into technology that I would be an asset to do the actual work.

Too bad that James won't even let you know what's up with him.  I sense he was too busy with work at one point and couldn't devote the time that's needed for this website.  If only he would communicate with you about what's going on.

I hope you and others could help in some way to continue the site.  I appreciate what you are doing to keep things going.  Wish you had the authorization to take control, but I guess you can't do that without James' permission.

Good luck with whatever you can do, Jay.

Uh-oh! It's not looking good in terms of our staying afloat with this message board. Does anyone participate in conversations on any other ATWT board? I used to 'chat' on the CBS board, but there was so much unpleasantness among the many participants -- I quickly realized that I didn't want to communicate in many of the forums. Maybe things have improved -- I don't know. I stop by once in a while to check out the discussions, but I find the discussions here are much more interesting, intimate and engaging.

I'll be sorry if this board ceases to exist, but I understand that it might happen. It's too bad that the originator (a_priori) won't drop a line to let us know why he's unable to continue. Perhaps he's had it with this soap opera, but I imagine he'd tell us that. I certainly hope that all is well with him - and that he's just decided to move on with other endeavors. I think all of us would be grateful to have some kind of response/explanation from a_priori -- but if not, I don't know how we'll manage to carry on.

CCT, I too have largely kept away from the CBS board, for the reasons you indicated.  It just got too nasty; plus, I found it difficult to navigate through the threads.  Too confusing, repetitive, and not user friendly.

Jay, this is a question that obviously shows my ignorance: can the site move along by itself, with just the posters adding threads and posting comments?  Is there real maintenance that needs to be done ongoing?  Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but I hate to think of not "chatting" with the few that frequent this board each week.  In a way, it's like a family, and I don't want that to end. It's a great pasttime reading and contributing our thoughts and suggestions about ATWT.  It sure beats yelling at the tv screen when some dumb thing occurs on the show!  LOL

Anyway, best wishes to you both and others who often contribute messages.

Dave

The only thing really needed is to split up posting responsibilities  ... you really don't need to do anything more than what you are already doing.   Posting spoilers takes up a lot of time ... hunting them down and posting them.  I can tell you how to do that.  Then there is the daily discussion threads ... many have chipped in to do that already in my absence ... so that is all I am really looking for.   I am not going to shove anything down anyone's throat as that would be unfair.  That is why I am looking for volunteers ... and I hope to get enough of them or this board may eventually go down the tubes, if a_priori doesn't ever return.

Dave, you don't need to be technology proficient at anything other than what you are doing ... posting and replying.   I would like to split of the duties of posting spoilers.  Say one person can cover a couple of sites, another two more sites, and so forth.   I can tell you how to do that and what to look for.  The picture posting can be a little complicated for someone who hasn't done it before ... but many on here know how to do that and many of you know how to post youtube videos ... so it shouldn't be very hard once, you get going with it.  I just can't do it alll anymore ... it is physically taking up too much time and is wearing me out with only one functioning eye.   Do you have any more thoughts, Dave?

Yes, I know what you mean by the other ATWT boards, particularly the new CBS board.  I vowed when the old CBS board went down, I would not participate on the new board and I haven't for the reasons you cited, Cee!!

Yes, I have tried every which way I can think of to get a hold of a_priori, including sending messages to his facebook and IMEEM accounts to asking the GL Nabble board to asking Nabble.  No one has a way of sending a message to a_priori other than via his e-mail that most of us already have.  I have the unfortunate feeling something has happened to him.  I honestly don't believe he would just give up this board and walk away ... he has put too much work into building it.  It was true he was looking for help and several of us have volunteered to help him, including me, but as far as I know no one has heard from him since.  He hasn't been here since March 2, 2009, which is a long time for the only owner of this board to be gone without a word.

I sense a mild amount of pressure here, Jay.  LOL  I guess I could help except for one problem:  I'm going to be doing a lot of travelling in the next year.  I have trips planned along with confirmed bookings to the East coast in May and June; Alaska in July; France in October; Panama Canal next January.  Without a computer with me I think it better that I don't commit to this.

I apologize for not being available, but I think it wise that I not get involved to this extent.  I'm sorry, but I hope that others could help.

Question: is it necessary for all the spoilers to be posted from all those periodicals?  I tend to look more at the reactions of viewers on the daily threads.  The spoilers are of some interest to me, but not my primary interesst.  I'm wondering how many others may agree with this.  You shouldn't have to post all these reports frojm the mags.  It just isn't fair to you.  Maybe we don't need the number that have been posted in recent times?   Just a thought.

To answer your question, Dave, yeah this site can pretty much one itself with posts and replies.  Nabble does all ther site maintenance.  Think of it with the MB being a ship.   Yeah, all the hands on deck can keep the board running, but it is kind of like a ship without a rudder ... someone needs to guide it to make sure the ship doesn't run into the rocks or off course or something like that.  I have mentioned in previous posts on this thread what I think needs to be done.   I am unable to handle the whole load ... other users need to help too.  The question remains that how long can a rudderless ship continue??  Nabble will need to address that and I will take care of communications with them and report back to all of you, as far as suggestions and policies go from them.  Remember, I haven't run a MB either, so I am learning as I go ... which usually takes longer.  Like I have said before, I need ALL posters and users input as to what the whole board wants to do.  Thanks!

Sorry, Dave, no pressure intended.   Could you take me on one of your trips ... sounds like fun!!  LOL

No, it is not necessary to post all spoilers ... some online sources are better than others, as James used to say.  I have cut way back on the spoilers I post now compared to what I first started.  I could make a list of all the online sites I am familiar with and have all the posters vote on which spoilers they want or if they want any at all.   I'll say this a_priori was very inclusive of the spoilers, castings, pictures, you tube videos he could find and post.   I have already cut back on a lot of those.  We were all very spoiled by his activity on this board.

Jay... I think if you go to the Nabble community board and state your case they will give you authority here and you may want to get a few co-owners as well.  I was able to ban the spammer on here and I think its because I am a co-owners on the Guiding Light board....

I know Nabble will help. They won't want to see the quality or character of this board diminish in any way!

good luck
