MSXML 4 is probably not supported for installation on Vista and above.
Same way you can't install things like MSXML 6, .NET Framework 1.1 or
2.0, IE7 etc on them. They're old enough to be shipped as part of the
operating system so it's redundant trying to install them.
Have you tested your application to see if it works when it's installed
on Vista & above or are you just checking the Add/Remove Programs list?
I'd also recommend updating your application to use MSXML 6.

Hello all,
we use wix 3.0 and have the following phenomenon:
Out Application consists of several files and the msxml.msm merge
module. On Windows XP SP 2 I see our Application and the msxml 4 in the
"Add or remove programs" list, everything works fine. So far so good.
On Windows 2008 server when installing the same msi package, msxml 4 is
not in the "Add or remove programs" list and does not seem to be
installed at all.
Does anyone have the same phenomenon or a solution?
