Hi everyone,
Our brother Matt has kindly given us a thorough explanation for his conviction that the Complementarian reading of 1 Timothy 2:11-14 is incorrect. He critiqued the "traditional" and "revised" complementarian interpretations and presented an egalitarian reading which he feels is more faithful to the text. I thank and congratulate Matt for doing this and putting his neck on the line, as it were.
I would now like to present something from the Complementarian side. From about September last year until January I studied this issue intensely and wrote a personal essay that "defends" my own view. One part of this essay deals with 1 Timothy 2:11-14. It evaluates and critiques all the major egalitarian ideas that I had come across, and then presents a coherent complementarian reading which I believe is most faithful to the text. The section of the essay can be accessed here:

Those who are following this debate are welcome to have a read of it, and post their comments and criticisms to this thread.
In Christ
Jereth
P.S. if anyone is wondering "when can I read the rest of the essay?", the answer is: "I have no idea, maybe soon, maybe never".
