Where is everybody from??

Okay... being a newbie..I was not on any board when everybody said where they are from. So if you guys don't mind me asking, I would like to know where you guys are in this big GL world. As you all know by now..I'm in hot & sticky Florida..also known as Heavens waitng room...LOL Should mention that I am originally from Maryland.

Thanks Tig for starting this thread.  I was born in Illinois, but being the daughter of a military man, we moved everywhere, even overseas.  I now call Savannah, Ga home.

Of course you know I live.  But for anyone else who doesn't I'm here in Central Floida, retirement central.  LOL.  I originally Hail from central Indiana, just south of Indy.

Yes I do...and I know KS also...but I wanted to ask the others and KS asked me to start this thread. Hey they have trails here..But I guess the pay wouldn't be worth the drive!!

I'm from southern California, as is my hubby.  We've lived in northern Calif. for 7 yrs now though, due to a job change for him that brought us up here.

LOL!!!  I'm giggling myself to pieces here now, lol!!    Maybe it felt like years though if you had a terrible time!  
ETA:  My goodness, I am laughing so hard now my stomach hurts and I have tears down my face!    My 12 yr old is making me laugh all the more (yes, she's still up), giving funny scenarios for the idea of being on a 4 year layover, like "I've missed all those birthdays and Christmas's, my poor kids!"  "My 9 yr old is a teenager now"  ROFLMBO!!!

Considering these days that airlines are cancelling flights and leaving passengers stranded in airports more frequently, they really might be able to make a movie, lol!

I think you & I chatted on the old MB where I told you I lived in So. CA for 15 years.  3 of my 4 sons were born there.  I miss the mountains and the desert.  Traded the dry heat for all this humidity in FL.  I love the hot weather though so I call this home.  Farthest north I ever got in CA was up to the Sequoias.  Now that was an unforgettable trip.  Loved Ojai too, have you ever been?  CA has so much to offer in so many ways.

That would be a beautiful place to be stuck!  But you would have to get back to your lives too, so yeah, you wouldn't want to get stuck for too, too long.

Ya know I think you're right, we did.  I can't take heat at all, just can't.  I feel like I'm cooking on the inside and just waiting for that little red button to pop up on me that indicates I'm finished cooking, just like a turkey!  It was sooooo hot here today too, bleh!  We started off a playdate with my girls and friends at a beautiful park, but we didn't last long there and switched venues to an indoor play area at a Carl's Jr.  I wouldn't be surprised if it had reached 100° today it was so bad.

I love the Sequoias & Yosemite!  So beautiful!  I don't know if I've ever been through Ojai or not.  As a kid we went trailering, so who knows where we may have driven through, yk?

I have always thought that I would love to retire there... but I think that I still have a romantic impression about the place.... I have dreamt about it all my life... I am actually hoping that the reality of it all will be to my expectations.

I know what that feels like.  I lived there all those years with no AC.  Remember the Night Stalker back in the 80's?  Hubby was workin' nights & I was home with little kids & had to make a tough call, close all the windows & die from the heat or keep them open & take the chance of being attacked cause the NS was only 1 mile away in any direction on a kill/torture spree.  Well I decided that I would not let him or anyone else ever steal my peace of mind & I left the windows open & said a little prayer.   And I'm still crazy after all these years.  LOL

Livin' in FL there's no way I'd go with AC.  LOL

I have always thought that I would love to retire there... but I think that I still have a romantic impression about the place.... I have dreamt about it all my life... I am actually hoping that the reality of it all will be to my expectations.
