Three names keep coming to mind, two wrestlers of whom I've heard very little for some 25 years. Can anyone help out with some information.

Firstly, "Crystal Palace", or Mike Dallas, the Warrington-based middlweight against who I had some interesting bouts. Mike was a wonderdful technician and could move like a blur around the ring. I always thought he could have been a real top of the bill star but, like most of us, he just faded away. Last I heard he had a pub in Warrington.

Secondly, Roy Fortuna of Manchester. Used to live near me in Burnage and we went to Black Panther's gym under the tutelage of Grant Foderingham with the likes of Paul Mitchel, Johnny South, Mark Wayne, Ian Mad Dog Wilson, Bill Blake, Johnny Saint, Dave Barrie, Peter Lindberg Barry Willis, Tiger Delmonte, etc. Good True Blue attender at Maine Road, too. Used to take his children especially if they'd been naughty!

The link between the two is that I took the Northern Area title when Mike Dallas relinquished it and, about seven years later, Roy Fortuna took it from me during about in Manchester. I'd love to hear news of either wrestler.

The thrid one, Paul Mitchell. A Salford lad who made it big with Wryton Promotions for several years. A skilful, clever wrestler and good fun after the show, too.

I know this is daft; replying to my own post after two minutes, but you know how you start thinking and I've got one for Dennis Lord, too.

Many years ago I travelled with and wrestled a lovely lad from your area called Jimmy McCumbrey. He was a solid, skilful wrestler who never took a count. You could throw him, slam him, whack him with a big forearm smash: down he went then popped up again in front of your face ready to battle on.

You never got a "cock linnet" with Jimmy, he was on the go all the time.

We shared another big interest: salmon and trout fishing and had fished the same beats on rivers in England and Scotland, notably the Earn and the Tay.

What about it, Dennis? Does it jog your memory?

Cheers!
Dennis Lord

Hi Eddie
Sorry I missed your post old age and all that, You were asking about Jim Mc Crombie I worked with him a lot over the years, He did a lot on Ron Taylors Booth, There is a picture of him in the News page on the Heritage site, where he is fighting Dr No ( Digger Rowell )   I must admit he was one Wrestler I never liked to Wrestle,  and would avoid if I could. I talked to my friend Les Prest about this and he said alot of Wrestlers felt the same way. He worked  for me when I started promoting and he was a big help and never let me down.
He is alive and well and living in Washington Tyne and Wear, I can get an address if you would like to cotact him,  again sorry for the delay in replying
                                all the best Dennis Lord

I understand what you mean about Jim! You never got a moment to catch your breath or even develop your own bout, so to speak.

Please pass on my best wishes if you are in contact with Jim. I would appreciate an address - send it to my e-mail: eddie@nim.co.uk

Many thanks Dennis
