What triggers FirePHP?

I am a bit puzzled, because at some places the logs are displayed twice at others only once. I saw this matter here already covered, but this is strange. Any hint for me?

There is some unexpected behavior in the interaction with Firebug due to a number of backward compatibility hacks. This code will be streamlined in the upcoming 1.0 alpha release which only supports Firebug 1.4+.
