What if when Jesus said in Matthew 5:48, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect," it was the same as when God said, "Let there be light." Most of us know that Jesus is the Word...John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

When Jesus returns all will be revealed.  Is this verse to keep us in our faith, and not faltering to all of man's ideas/theologies?  It is easy for a simple mind to jump to  conclusions, and  wrong ones at that.  Maybe I am being naive, or just downright ignorant, but I think this is a warning to those who are unknowing like myself.  I look at how easy it is to persuade a young mind during the course of a school year that evolution is a certainty.   I read the scripture and just know that there are things Christ will reveal to me when He decides.   We must remember it is His determining, not our own intelligence.

I'm not sure you understand what I'm saying........."Be ye perfect......" Let me ask you this - What happened when God (Jesus) said "let there be light?"

Remembering that John chapter one says it was Jesus, who is the word, who created all things.

John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

So when Jesus said "be ye perfect," was he asking you to do the impossible or was he declaring it into existence just like when he said, "let there be light" in the beginning? Was he creating something again?

Matthew 13:13  Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

Would this also apply in a part to when Jesus told the woman to "go, and sin no more" ?  I keep wanting to link that in this for some reason.
